McCluskey strums through a well known tune

The life of a covers act is not always an easy one, and before the gig is even underway tonight local acoustic singer songwriter Mark McCluskey is being hounded by local punters to play this song or that song. McCluskey greets them all with a smile however, and treats all who approach him in a kind manner. An advantage to performing an entirely covers based set, however, is that there is sure to be crowd pleasers layered throughout. Opening track “The Gambler” (Kenny Rodgers) sets the sing along tone for the evening, with locals belting out the well known country gem. Throughout the evening there is a wide range of covers, from lesser known tunes such as the counting crows “round here” to the staples of every pub gig like Oasis’ “Wonderwall”. It is a change of pace to attend a purely covers material gig, but Marks blend of hits and gems made the evening an enjoyable one.
