"Welcome all to the final curtain call", a welcoming line in the first song of Edinburgh's folk group The Deadly Winters set. Packing up and heading a little south of the border to perform in renowned Northumberland venue The Barrels Ale House, the group immediately make themselves at home and interact with the audience as if each of us in attendance are all old friends.
"We're going to start a fire here tonight, we may even burn the house down" jokes singer Chris Blair in-between songs and drams of whiskey. Playing for over an hour, the group manage to keep the audience captivated with their sing a long style of folk music, and tales of each songs origin. Another noticeable accolade this evening is the diverse age range that have come out to see the band, as young and old all sit together in the small venue and all appear to equally enjoy the evening.
It seemed that all in attendance tonight left happy, from the pre paid ticket holder to the casual onlooker. Blending catchy folk tunes with welcoming stage banter make The Deadly Winters a band to check out live.
