New release from Ordinaryson sees a return to their blend of folk and indie. Returning with an altered line up, The first album to feature new guitar player Jonathon Holmes, this album has a fuller sound than their previous releases. The first track “round here” is a beautiful love letter to the town of Berwick Upon Tweed, and sets the rest of the album up nicely. More upbeat songs like “telephone” and “money machine” are foot tapping head bobbers, sure to be a hit in a live situation, whilst slower numbers such as “for you” showcase the lyrical ability of frontman Ian Thompson. An album that could be played on a Friday night out or a Sunday afternoon in the sun, the acoustic strings and funky undertones mesh together well.
